Prices cover the 2026 registration year. The government portion of each bracket was last checked against plan.ucr.gov/fee-brackets on 2 August 2026. Larger fleets are quoted individually rather than sold at a fixed price.
Are UCR fees going up in 2027?
An increase has been proposed, not confirmed. FMCSA published a notice of proposed rulemaking recommending an average increase of about 20%, which would work out to between $9 to $9,329 more per entity depending on fleet size.
Until the final rule is published, the schedule above is the one that applies. We update this page when it lands rather than publishing figures that might change — you can read the proposal yourself in the Federal Register.
States that do not participate
Forty-one states take part in the UCR Agreement. Nine, plus the District of Columbia, do not.

Being based in one of these does not exempt you. If you operate in interstate commerce you still register — you just choose a participating state as your base state. Carriers based in Canada or Mexico do the same thing, selecting a participating US state assigned by geography.

How much does UCR cost?
UCR is priced in brackets by the number of commercial motor vehicles you operate. The smallest bracket covers 0–2 vehicles and the largest covers fleets of 1,001 or more. The fee is set annually by the UCR Plan and is the same in every participating state — a carrier in Texas and a carrier in Ohio with the same fleet size pay the same government fee.
Is the UCR fee per truck?
No. UCR is charged once per company, not per vehicle. Your fleet size only decides which bracket you fall into. A carrier with 6 trucks and a carrier with 20 trucks are in the same bracket and pay the same fee.
Are UCR fees going up in 2027?

Do I pay UCR in every state I drive through?
No. You register once, with your base state, and that single registration covers you everywhere. If your state does not participate in UCR, you choose a participating state as your base state instead.
